Casa do Pego is just a few meters away from the beach. It’s a perfect walking distance even if you have small children or in the company of older legs. There is large sidewalk that makes this a very safe walk. The beach is so close that you can enjoy the sound of the waves almost constantly.
Pego Beach, chosen for several years as the best portuguese beach, for its water quality and clean silky sand, is the closest to Casa do Pego, hence the name of our house.
Pego Beach is a very long sand line that can provide great privacy if you are looking for it. This is the perfect place to get away from the crowds and get into the wild. There as almost 40 kilometers of silky sand with untouched dunes and preserved Nature to enjoy.
Some call this place the European Hamptons. Maybe because of the stunning beaches and wild landscape or due to the relaxed and laidback vibe. The beachfront restaurants also contribute to this mood. And Pego beach has an excellent restaurant, named Sal.
Nearby you also have Carvalhal beach, Comporta beach, Aberta Nova beach and many wild, deserted spots to explore. The Comporta beach area is basically a single, continuous sand line that goes on for more than 40 kilometres from Troia to Sines.

In Carvalhal, the main street has very interesting home decor and furnishing shops like Stork Club, Jacques Grange, Loja de Cá, Barracuda, Cabana, Santa Maria Velharias. Velharias Julio Maria or Velharias Sara.
For the best gourmet groceries go to Gomes Supermarket in Comporta. The butcher shop is right next door. In Carvalhal you can also buy groceries at the 2 local supermarkets. If your idea is to pack the fridge, go to Continente hipermarket in Grandola.
Get the best fresh fish and seafood with Joaquim. He now has a fresh fish shop in Carvalhal called Loja du Peixe. For the best traditional bread go to Tulipa, Voninha or Central Vila. Tobacco, Internacional newspapers and magazines at Junior, in Carvalhal.
